Our Wedding Day

As some of you may know, I recently married my wonderful husband, Joe, and by recently...I mean a little over one month ago. I thought it would be fun to do a "story post" and just share some stuff from that day and how our first month as a married couple has been going.
The big day was May 7th. We honestly could not have asked for a more perfect day. The weather was 72 and sunny with little to no wind. I don't think I saw a cloud in the sky that entire day. It really was perfection. The day started with an early morning wake up and breakfast with my maid of honor, Justine, at one of our old stomping grounds...that would be Ihop. After breakfast, it was time to head back to my parents house for our hair and make up.

Once we arrived at the venue, things were crazy. Not crazy as in they weren't good...but everything was very hectic. So many people were trying to get things set up, some of us were trying to get pictures, doing this, and doing that...hectic! After getting dressed and having some pictures made it was time for the first look. The first look was something that I was really unsure about. Parts of me wanted to wait for the walk down the aisle to see him for the first time but we knew that as far as timing, the first look would be more beneficial so we could get pictures done. That moment was perfect. That very moment made the entire day worth it. Joe's reaction was everything I wanted and so much more. He was so happy and completely in awe when he saw me in my dress for the first time. I am also so grateful to have that moment captured in a photo by our wonderful photographer, Jenifer. After the initial first look, we got a few minutes by ourselves to talk and just celebrate this happy occasion together. It really was the best part of the day.

After about an hour of spending time together and taking some pictures, it was time for the ceremony. Once again, another PERFECT outcome. It was amazing having the people that we love the most supporting us and sharing such a special moment. Our 3 year old, Jonah, walked me down the aisle and he did a great job. He did have toys waiting for him that were his reward for if he did what he was supposed to do...walk slowly, smile, and walk over to my aunt after we completed our walk down the aisle. He did perfect and those new toys (Moana figures to be exact) were a big hit for the rest of the evening.

The ceremony was over in about 10 minutes...short and sweet...just what we wanted. We finished up the rest of our pictures and then headed to the reception. Of course, another perfect part of the day. We shared our first dance, I smashed cake in Joe's face after he so sweetly fed me a cute little bite. It was fair though...we had a "contest" as to who got the cake smashed in their face. Joe lost, I won, plain and simple :)

At the end of the day all I could do was think about how perfect the day was. We really didn't have any mishaps (well, the sangria pitcher did have a malfunction but other than that everything went as planned.) We are so blessed to have so many people who love us so much and took the day to help us celebrate such a wonderful occasion. After a few hours of dancing, good food, and some of the best company, we got to head out and get started with our new life as husband and wife. So far things are great. Jonah has done great with our move and is adjusting perfectly. I am thankful every single day for my sweet little family and cannot wait to continue this lifelong journey with my two boys.
